Robert Richmond Peck

Copy Will received dated 12th Dec 1946. Executors O.M.Reid, J.R.Peck and B.A.Peck. Estate left equally between children. Executed whilst living 71 Constable Road. Witnessed by two Clerks of Kersey, Tempest & Latter 15 Tower Street, Ipswich. Described as Retired Marine Surveyor.

Death cert received 6/92 - address at time 71 Constable Rd but died at Chatsworth Rest Home, Sea Road, Felixstowe - aged 84.

His address in my father's cert. was Bishops Hill Cottage (1896). Not at this address in 1891 Census (RG 12/1470 folio 69 fiche 130). Unable to identify Bishops Hill Cottage on map of the time. Girl in Record Office, Ipswich says Bishops Hill now nearly all purpose built flats.

Details 1881 Census received "age 12, scholar, born Harwich, Essex".

Edwin Robert Richmond Peck

Death cert rec'd "Temp 2nd Lt Edwin Robert Richmond Peck 8 Bn Suff R Killed in Action 3.5.1917 France". An extract from the Army Officers Register of Deaths 1914-1921.

Commonwealth War Graves Commission say buried in Plot 1, Row A, Grave 19 Neuville-Vitasse, a village 5 kilometres south-east of Arras. Anne and I visited the grave - a moving experience.

Described in the marriage certificate of Winifred as Cashier with a finance
Company.

Laura Denham

Marriage certificate received 24.4.92 Showing she married 27th August 1887, then aged 22, spinster living at 26 Denman Road (her future husband's address). Father Thomas Stephen Denham a Fruitmeter (whatever that might be and it is written very clearly)!

Birth cert.rec'd.

Found in the 1881 Census Index, aged 16 and described as a neck tie maker.


Robert Peck

Source of birth and death - gravestone in Ipswich Cemetery.

Described in his son Robert Richmond's marriage cert. as Ship Builder.Received birth cert, 2/92. Father Robert, a labourer and Sarah Simmons - his wife.

Found in the Census of 30 Mar 1851, aged 6, scholar born Ipswich.

Copy Will received. His children placed in Will order. Will written showing 19 Tokio Road as his address. Left all to wife Emma but she predeceased him. House & furniture to Edith Elizabeth - residue equally to children. Calls for marble headstone & curb "for the purpose of commemorating my dear wife and myself". Executors - Mr Clark Woods of 12 Willoughby Road, Ipswich and Mr Edward Joseph Last of 25 St Helens Stree, Ipswich - payment of five pounds to each of them. Witnesses - H.J.Galley, 11 Chatsworth Rd., West Norwood, S.E.27, Baptist Minister and A.L Wilson 253 Woodbridge Road, Ipswich. Will dated 18th April 1929.

Death Cert received 6/92 - address at date of death 19 Tokio Road. Died at Heathfields, Woodbridge Road U.D.

Found in 1861 Census, aged 17, Laborer (enumerator's spelling) in Brick Yard.

Found in the 1891 Census age 46, Ship Builder. Parish of St Peter's and living at 13 Gt Whip St. Declares that he was born Wix, Essex. Elizabeth Mower living in the house aged 16 "General servant (Domestic)" born Little Bealings.

His family is in the 1881 Census. He does not appear but Emma is described as "mariner's wife" suggesting he was at sea.

1881 Census details received. "wife, married, mariner's wife, born Harwich, Essex". Living at 5 Harland Place, Ipswich. Census 1881 details added from Census Index - Census Place Ipswich St Peter FHL Film 1341452 Her mother,Ann Richmond, described as Annuitant, age 72 is shown living with her. She is described as head of household - husband Robert must have been at sea. Census reference RG11/1870 Folio 125.


Richmond Peck

Found in the 1891 Census and described as a scholar. Born Ipswich.

1881 Census details received. "10 months, born Ipswich".


Edith Elizabeth Peck

I found her double grave with her brother Harold Richmond Peck in Ipswich Cemetary in January 1992. Her nephew Dennis Richmond Peck gave the family
connection.

No trace of Will in Somerset House.

Found in 1891 Census. Age 6, Scholar.


Harold Richmond Peck

Birth cert. obtained - father Robert and mother Emma formerly Richmond. Address 13 Gt.Whipp St. Ipswich.

Found in Register of Burials Ipswich Cemetary died 1972.

Will obtained. Will made 20 Jul 1956, then living Richmond House, Back Lane, Washbrook, Suffolk. Retired Farmer. Later Codicils made when living at 2 Lacey St., Ipswich. Beneficiaries various relations not yet identified and their names entered as individuals.


Robert Potter

Name taken from his daughter Laura's marriage cerificate. Described as an Engine Fitter.

Birth Cert of John Henry Potter received. Engine Fitter. Address 3 Grange Cottage, Upper Grange Road, Bermondsey. Parish Saint Mary Magdalen, Bermondsey, Surrey.

Marriage cert.rec'd 5 Sep 1860 "both of full age" Engineer Witnesses Edward G.Campbell (or so it appears) and Bridget Huse Harris. Father Robert Potter (dec'd). Address Princes Road, Lambeth, Surrey.
