Thomas Stephen Denham

Name taken from his daughter Laura's marriage certificate in which he is described as a Fruitmeter.

Daughter Laura's birth cert. rec'd. Then Deputy Fruitmeter. Address Unreadable, Upper Grange Road, Bermondsey. Her husband's father lived in Upper Grange Road.

Marriage cert. rec'd described as of full age, a widower, Fruit Meter, of Melior Street. Marriage solemnized at the Parish Church in the Parish of St Saviour Southwark in the County of Surrey - Father Thomas Denham a "Currier".28 Nov 1863. Witnesses Fred" (or so it appears - presumably an abbreviation for Frederick) Drewitt and Susannah Ive.

Name taken from his daughter Laura's marriage certificate in which he is described as a Fruitmeter.


Mary Ann Ive

Name from the birth cert. of her daughter Laura. Her surname was formerly Ive - her marriage to T.S.Denham appears to have been her second marriage. It later emerges that she married three times.

Marriage cert.rec'd - described as widow - father's name John Biddel Ive, Grocer. "residence at time of marriage Bermondsey"


Robert Peck

Obtained from birth cert. of son Robert - described as a labourer - wife Sarah Simmons. Address at the time Gee's Court, St Helen's, Ipswich.

Found in the Census of 30 Mar 1851 but NOT found in the 1841 Census. Parish of St Helen's, Church Lane, Ipswich (obviously close by St Helen's Street being other entries on the same photostat), aged 39, Labourer on the Roads, and born Crowfield, Suffolk and having five children.

Found marriage and took copy certificate. (Batchelor and spinster) - witnesses Charles Wright and Mary Ann Wright. All four parties sign by mark.

Found in the Census of 1861 but not in 1871. Still described as Laborer (enumerator's spelling) on the Roads aged 51 - birth date appears to differ from that shown in 1851 Census but still shows born Crowfield. Only Robert and George still at home. 222 9/1166 22 page 37.

Christening found in the Microfilm of Coddenham Parish 1790 - 1812. "Robert Peck Son of Joseph & Ann his Wife was born August 8th 1809 & publicly baptised by John Longe, Vicar Parish Coddenham".

Unable to find Will Somerset House based upon death 1879 (three score years and ten), and search either side.


Sarah Simmons

Name obtained from the birth cert. of Robert Peck her son. Cert. signed with her mark.

Found in the Census of 30 Mar 1851 but NOT in the Census of 1841. Described as wife of Robert Peck, aged 37, without employment and mother of five children.

Found in the Census of 1861 - age declared as 44!


Charles Peck

Found in the Census of 30 Mar 1851 but NOT in the Census of 1841. Then 16 years old, Errand boy, born Ipswich.

Not listed with parents in the Census of 1861.


Sarah Peck

Found in the Census of 30 Mar 1851 but NOT in the Census of 1841. Then aged 12 years, scholar, born Ipswich.

Not listed with parents in the 1861 Census.


Henry Peck

Found in the Census of 30 Mar 1851 but NOT in the 1941 Census. Then aged 11, scholar, born Ipswich.

George Peck

Found in the Census of 30 Mar 1851 but NOT in the Census of 1841. Then aged 1, born Ipswich.

Found in the 1861 Census, aged 11, Scholar.


Mark Richmond

Birth certificate of Emma Richmond received - Mariner. She was born Castle Gate Street, Harwich.


Ann Chisnall

Birth certificate of Emma Richmond, her daughter, received.

1881 Census details received - staying with/living with her daughter Emma Peck at 5 Harland Place, Ipswich, widow, aged 72, annuitant.


Joseph Peck

Name from Microfilm of Christening of Robert Peck, his son, from Coddenham Parish Register 1790-1812 - "Robert Peck Son of Joseph Peck/of Crowfield & Ann his Wife was born Aug 8th 1809 & publicly baptised Apr 24th 1810 by John Longe, Vicar Parish Coddenham".

Searched in the I.G.I. for Suffolk, Norfolk, Essex, Cambridgeshire - blank.


Ann Peck

Her maiden name is shown as Peck in all childrens' birth records but one.


Samuel Peck

Found in the Microfilm of Coddenham Parish Register 1790 - 1812. "Peck Samuel Son of Joseph & Anne his wife late Peck was born 5 Nov publicly baptised 3 Dec 1798". The "e" of Anne is correctly recorded from the Register but omitted from other spellings of her name in all other records. With the maiden name of Peck one wonders if she married her cousin or was a widow previously married to a Peck.

Found in the Microfilm of Crowfield Parish 1790 - 1812. "Peck Sarah Dau of Joseph & Ann his wife late Peck was born 13 Oct 1801 & publicly baptised 4 May 1802".


Joseph Peck

Found in the Microfilm of Crowfield Parish Register 1790 - 1812. "Peck Joseph Son of Joseph & Ann his wife late Peck was born 7 May & privately baptised 13 May received into the Church 2 Jun 1803".


Harriett Peck

Found in the microfilm of Crowfield Parish Register 1790 - 1812. "Peck Harriett Dau of Joseph & Ann late Peck was born 21 May & publicly bap. 15 Jun 1806".


Mary Mahalah Peck

From the Baptismal entry in the Hamlet of Crowfield 18th July 1813 parents Joseph & Ann, "Abode" Crowfield, "Quality, Trade or Profession" Farmer, baptised by Hen. Foord.
